SQUASH TOURNAMENT 2022 / 23 SEASON

THINGS TO KNOW FOR THE TOURNAMENT

1.  We have 22 people who have entered the tournament. There are 8 groups in the Group stages, consisting of 3 players.  There are also 2 “bye” postions.  Everybody plays each other in the group, giving everybody points as detailed in point 2.  Once everybody has played each other, Person with the highest number of points should be marked as position 1, person with the second highest position 2 and so on.

2.  Every match will be the best of 5 games (first to 3).  American scoring rules will apply with the winner of a rally winning a point.  Games are first to 15.   Winner must win my 2 clear points.  Double yellow dot ball to be used.

3.  I have not marked up whose responsibility it is to challenge who, and would just encourage everybody to play their games.

4.  The score marked up on the sheets on the club noticeboard should be as follows:

If Player A beat Player B 3 games to 2 for example, both get a point for playing and player A gets a further point for winning, so the score marked on the table would be 5-3 to Player A.

If it was Player A's challenge and they failed to contact Player B in the specified time  frame Player B would win 5-0, with a match score of 3-0 being assumed and Player A not getting a point for playing.

5.  There will be a plate tournament as well as the championship tournament.  The winner of each Group will go through to the Championship knockout stages.  All those who finish in positions 2 and 3 will go through to the Plate knockout stages.

6.  You will be able to follow the tournament on our website at www.sltasc.co.uk, where I will try and post updates on the scores and how the competition is progressing. The website will also contain all this information (with the exception of everyone's contact details).

7. Please stick to the dates each stage of the tournament requires to be played by.  We want the competition to finish well before the start of the tennis season for our tennis players.

8.  If the opportunity to play games on Clubnights presents itself they can be played at this time.  Please however do not play games on Clubnights if it is busy and it means people are having to wait for prolonged periods of time.

Good luck!!!!!
