About us

The Clubhouse is open from 8am to 10pm 362 days a year and has two heated squash courts, two lounges, a small exercise area, table tennis, male and female changing facilities with hot showers.

The club notice board keeps members up to date with activities within the club. Lights for the squash courts and floodlights operate via a meter which costs £1 for 30 minutes, there is no fee for booking courts.

In addition to regular club nights, The Tennis Club runs various competitions throughout the season, which include Gents and Ladies singles, Gents, Ladies and mixed doubles as well as Junior competitions.

We also have Gents, Ladies and Junior teams playing in the district leagues and there is coaching available.

We also organise social functions throughout the year e.g. quiz nights and an annual prize-giving dinner.

Tennis Social Evenings

During the tennis season, the club has three evenings each week when members can play social tennis. These evenings focus mainly on friendly doubles.Play normally consists of a set and then players rotate, however, if numbers are large then the length of time on court may vary according to how many are waiting. Of course with three courts available, all changing at different times, the wait is never too long. After each short set is played, the players come off and are replaced by four new players selected from the waiting throng, with people who have waited longest being given priority. The new four should be made up of players who, wherever possible, have not played together that evening. This gives everyone a good mix of opponents and partners while also giving new members a good chance to mix with and get to know the regulars.

Social evenings are:

  • Monday - from 7pm. Men only.
  • Wednesday - from 7pm. Ladies only.
  • Friday - from 7pm. Mixed evening.

The Squash Club

The Squash Club also has its main Championship competitions for which everyone is eligible and a handicap tournament which gives all members a chance of success regardless of their ability.

Throughout the season there are mini leagues which have promotion and relegation on a monthly basis, so players quickly find their level and get good competitive squash.
